Music Changes Everything: Breaking the Rules and Raising Your Game with Musicians
with T.J. Mannix
Sunday September 27th
5:00pm - 8:00pm
at 1419 rue Montcalm
3h | $80
This workshop is in English
Does your accompanist work FOR you, or WITH you? Have you ever tried to improvise with a musician on stage with you?
This workshop brings musicians and improvisers together to break the traditional barrier between "actor" and "accompanist".
What happens when you empower your musicians to step in and drive a scene? Break the rules and free your musicians to deconstruct their instruments, providing sound effects, underscoring, and even surprising themselves.
Musicians are artists, and if we invite them to do more than accompany, we can inspire each other to do ridiculously creative things on stage.
During this workshop, improvisers will be pushed to really listen to the music and sound and let it change their scenes and choices. Every improviser and musician can be a cast member, pushing the boundaries of improv as we know it.
If you have an instrument, bring it. You can join as an improviser, a musician, or BOTH. It’s up to you.
